This intimate bar brings the best of the ocean's bounty to Back Bay, thanks to Michael Serpa. The menu offers must-eats including its distinctive blue prawns a la plancha, "taverna style" entire roasted sea bream, and its unique, saffron-infused take on bouillabaisse, which combine New England seafood with Mediterranean cooking methods. Some diners stop by for a quick fix of oysters and wine, while others enjoy a multi-course meal.
Seafood enthusiasts are drawn to chef-partner Michael Serpa's first solo venture, a townhouse-like enclave in the Back Bay. Michael Serpa was formerly of Neptune Oyster. East and West Coast oysters, peekytoe crab salad, dressed Maine lobster, and more can be found on the excellent raw bar menu. (Celebrations choose to provide lavish seafood towers.) The famous blue prawns a la plancha and "taverna style," entire roasted sea bream are the clearest examples of how the menu frequently combines New England seafood with Mediterranean cooking methods. The wine list gets extra points because it frequently has orange wines and a sparkling rose that pairs well with seafood.
