Shinola
Shinola Watch was created in 2011 to establish a company focused on producing high-quality manufactured items. Shinola Detroit quickly became well-known across the world, with origins in American industry and a reputation for excellence.
In 2012, Shinola transformed 12,000 square feet of raw space into a state-of-the-art watch factory in Detroit. The first to be opened in the United States in nearly fifty years. Detroit headquarters occupies 95,000 square feet in The College for Creative Studies, within the historic Argonaut Building. In March 2013, Shinola released a limited-edition run of a watch called the Runwell, a timepiece that captured their commitment to classic design, quality construction, and American manufacturing. Latest, in May of 2021, Shinola released the first automatic chronograph, a highly technical milestone achievement in watchmaking. Lap 01 of the Canfield Speedway sold out at a record pace.
If you're seeking Detroit-made American timepieces, here is the place to go. It should be emphasized, however, that, despite having manufacturing in Detroit, Shinola gets parts from Europe and Asia. The brand has played a critical part in revitalizing Detroit, which is no minor feat.
