US state of California's Running Springs is home to the ski resort known as Snow Valley Mountain Resort. Among the four ski resorts in the San Bernardino National Forest, it is the oldest Southern California ski area still in operation. It is also one of the best ski resorts near Los Angeles.

If you have young children who are still learning to ski, Snow Valley is the best option for a family-friendly ski resort close to Los Angeles. The Children's Learning Center focuses on instructing children between the ages of 4 and 12, and there is also an adult ski school. And the Park Avenue terrain park is the ideal starting point for learning freestyle techniques. Snow Valley is still worth a visit even if you're an experienced skier, but keep in mind that you can rapidly exhaust the 240 acres of skiable terrain available. Although there isn't any housing here, you can find it in Running Springs or Arrowhead.
