Spiaggia dell'Isola dei Gabbiani (Isonedda)
Isola dei Gabbiani beach, also known as Spiaggia de l'Isisedda, is located on the north coast of Sardinia near Porto Pollo di Palau, in Gallura. The clear waters here are where you can snorkel and see the many species of flora and fauna protected by La Maddalena Archipelago National Park.
The beach is narrow, about 50m long. It is an isthmus connecting the island to the mainland. Although the name is L'Isola dei Gabbiani or Isonedda, it is not an actual island, but a peninsula with Barrabisa beach on one side and Porto Pollo beach (Porto Puddu) on the other. Like the neighboring beaches, here, the sand is very clean and has a medium-fine grain size. The seabed is low and steep, thus allowing children to play on the shore in peace.
On the beach, there is a kiting area dedicated to surfers, kitesurfers, windsurfers, and a school, where newbies can take lessons. The location is ideal for wave sports as the winds blowing through this stretch, Mistral and Tramontana, guarantee its practice.
Isola dei Gabbiani has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) many times. It only takes a few hours to understand why. Here nature is unpolluted, from the dunes that shield it to the sea. Crystals and vegetation typical of the Mediterranean coast surround it like an embrace.
