Spiceworld - Spice Girls
Spiceworld is the second studio album by the Spice Girls, released by Virgin Records on November 1, 1997. Its music is a mix of dance-pop and production. The album was a financial success all around the world, prolonging the era's "Spicemania." It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart with 190,000 first-week sales and 1.4 million copies delivered in two weeks. The album also charted at number one in 13 countries, with Australia, Canada, France, Switzerland, and the United States all placing in the top three. Spiceworld is one of the best-selling albums by a girl group in the world, having sold over 14 million copies worldwide.
Four singles were released from the album, all of which were commercially successful. Its first single, "Spice Up Your Life," became a worldwide hit, reaching the top five in most countries. It was followed by the songs "Too Much," "Stop," and "Viva Forever," all of which went on to chart success. Between February and September 1998, the Spice Girls went on their first headlining concert tour, dubbed the Spiceworld Tour, which covered Europe and North America for a total of 97 events.
