The Writing's on the Wall - Destiny's Child
The Writing's on the Wall is Destiny's Child's second studio album, which was released on July 27, 1999, by Columbia Records. Missy Elliott, Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs, Rodney Jerkins, and Beyoncé Knowles, among others, produced the album, which featured guest appearances by Missy Elliott and R&B duo Next. The album produced four singles, including the number one successes "Bills, Bills, Bills" and "Say My Name" in the United States, as well as "Bug a Boo" and "Jumpin', Jumpin'" in the United Kingdom. This is the group's final album with its original lineup. The quartet took creative ownership of the album, writing and producing their own songs in collaboration with producer and Xscape member Kandi Burruss.
With first-week sales of 132,000 units, the album debuted at number six on the US Billboard 200 list on August 14, 1999, and peaked at number five on May 6, 2000. Destiny's Child was nominated for six Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals (twice), Best R&B Song (twice), Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. On November 6, 2001, the RIAA recognized The Writing's on the Wall as 8 Platinum, and it has sold over 6 million copies in the United States alone. The Writing's on the Wall was voted number 39 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums of the Decade list. The Writing's on the Wall has sold more than 13 million copies all over the world.
