The Baalbeck International Festival
The Baalbeck International Festival is one of the most famous festivals in Lebanon. People from all over the world have flocked to the city of Baalbek in Lebanon's Beqaa Valley to attend the annual festival. Classical music, dance, theater, opera, jazz, and modern world music are all performed at the historic Roman Acropolis each July and August. It is performed at the ancient Roman Acropolis, one of the largest and best-preserved Roman temples ever erected, every July and August. The different presentations are presented against a backdrop of dramatic lighting and a one-of-a-kind historic location. Deep Purple, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Sting, The Royal Ballet, and The New York Philharmonic Orchestra have all performed.
The Baalbeck International Festival began in the mid-twentieth century, with the first organizing events taking place in 1955. After a year, President Chamoun renamed it the Baalbeck International Festival, which evolved into a governmental institution with the objective of promoting tourism and Lebanese culture.
On July 5, 2020, the Baalbeck International Festival presented "The Sound of Resilience," the first cultural event and premiere in the Middle East following the incarceration of COVID-19. Under the guidance of Maestro Fazlian and with the involvement of Rafic Ali Ahmad, the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra presented this non-profit concert with the Choirs of Antonine University, Notre Dame University, and Qolo Atiqo, as well as young Lebanese musicians.
