The Beiteddine Festival
The Beiteddine Festival, one of the most famous festivals in Lebanon, is an annual summer festival that takes place in Beiteddine Palace in Beiteddine, Lebanon. It was launched in the middle of the 1980s, amid war and disaster. It was a gesture of faith in Lebanon's cultural uniqueness, as well as its creative and artistic independence. It was an appeal for normalcy in the midst of the civil war's chaos and madness. It began in 1984 with local artistic performances and subsequently expanded to include regional and international performers.
The Beiteddine Festival takes place in a magnificent 200-year-old palace in this town in Lebanon's Chouf region. The Byblos festival is held at the historic city's seafront, near the Phoenician temple, Roman theater, Crusader castle, and winding souk. By creating this celebration of human culture, organizers resisted the challenges of Lebanon's civil conflict. Many of the performers are Lebanese, although artists from all around the world are also welcomed. It has included concerts or performances connected to classical music, dance, theater, opera, jazz, and modern world music over the years.
