The Bonfire of Destiny
The Bonfire of Destiny (Le Bazar de la Charité) is a French drama miniseries that premiered on Netflix on December 26, 2019, after broadcasting on the French free-to-air channel TF1 in November and December of 2019.
Set in 1897 and based on a true fire that killed 126 people at a Parisian aristocracy's annual charity dinner. Adrienne de Lenverpré (Audrey Fleurot), an upper-class woman seeking to flee her tyrant husband, Marc-Antoine de Lenverpré (Gilbert Melki), a contender for the Senate President, is planning a trip to the bazaar. The fire breaks out when Adrienne's niece, Alice de Jeansin, and her personal confidante and maidservant, Rose Rivière, are visiting the bazaar. The plot then concentrates upon the aftermath of the fire and the three women's lives.
