The Canyon of Waterfalls

The Canyon of Waterfalls is a breathtaking collection of 46 separate waterfalls. The tallest is about 70 meters high and is named for Orpheus, the famous Thracian musician and prophet. Orpheus is said to have lived in the Rhodope Mountains, where the Canyon of Waterfalls is located. You're in for a thrilling adventure as you explore the Canyon of Waterfalls. Cross unstable bridges with caution, climb wooden ladders, experience the soothing spray from waterfalls of different sizes, and breathe in the cool Rhodope Mountains' sparkling air. The lovely forests appear to be a movie backdrop for fairy tales; when you hike the pathways, you'll be reminded of Little Red Riding Hood.

The Canyon of Waterfalls eco-trail is located within the Soskovcheto Reserve's buffer zone. Along the way, you'll view 46 waterfalls of varying sizes and capacities. Orpheus, which reaches 68 m, towers above the others, and other significant waterfalls include Kamen Uley (Stone Chute), Sartseto (the Heart), and Kazanite (the Barrels), Ropkata. The nicest part of the walk comprises multiple wooden bridges that zigzag between both banks of the Elenska River. Use the rails and ladders to assist you on your way. The best time to visit the Canyon of Waterfalls is in the early summer, when water levels are high and everything is green. Autumn also offers beautiful conditions, as the canyon’s trees show off their yellow, red and brown leaves – the colours of the traditional local dress.
