The Dark Tower

Nikolaj Arcel directed and co-wrote The Dark Tower, a 2017 American scientific fantasy Western action film, based on Stephen King's novel series of the same name. The film stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain, a gunslinger on a quest to protect the Dark Tower—a mythical structure —along with Matthew McConaughey as his nemesis, Walter Paddick (The Man in Black), and Tom Taylor as Jake Chambers, a boy who becomes Roland's apprentice.

The Dark Tower had its world premiere on July 31, 2017, at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, and Columbia Pictures released it in cinemas on August 4, 2017. The film made $113 million worldwide on a $66 million budget and Elba's performance earned lots of praise through the film.
