The King in Love (2017)

The King in Love is a South Korean historical drama that was written, produced, and directed by Kim Sang-hyeop. It is based on the Kim Yi-ryung novel of the same name. Im Si-wan, Im Yoon-ah, and Hong Jong-hyun are its main actors. From July 17 through September 19, 2017, the pre-produced drama aired on MBC on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The Goryeo kingdom is the setting for this tale, which centers on the destiny of a young, ambitious ruler named Won (Im Si-wan) and his boyhood friends Wang Rin (Hong Jong-hyun) as well as San (Im Yoon-ah), a stunning young woman. As they get to know one another and become closer as friends, these three also start to develop sentiments of love and affection for one another.

The young Crown Prince develops feelings for San and will stop at nothing to protect her. He develops a love for her greater than his own. On the other side, San's childhood buddy Wang Rin also had a love-at-first-sight relationship with him. Despite how deeply he cares for her, he has kept this love a secret out of loyalty to his Crown Prince and a desire to avoid upsetting his closest friend. But the day has come when San and Rin both understand their affections for one another.
