The University of Dodoma
The University of Dodoma (UDOM) is a public university in central Tanzania, with its main campus in Dodoma, Tanzania's capital. The construction is going in place on a 6,000-hectare plot of land in the Chimwaga neighborhood, roughly 8 kilometers (5.0 miles) east of Dodoma's central business district.
The University of Dodoma was formally formed in March 2007 after President of the United Republic of Tanzania Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete signed the Charter. In September 2007, the first academic programs began. UDOM is currently the country's fastest-growing university, with a campus that is larger than any other in the country. It is praised for creating competent and qualified students who can compete in job markets.
The University of Dodoma currently has seven colleges: College of Earth Science, College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences, College of Informatics and Virtual Education, College of Education, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Health and Allied Science and College of Business studies and Law, in recently there was also establishment of the new academic institute within the college of humanities and social science UDOM named institute of Development studies(IDS) charged with the responsibility of strengthening professionals within the field of Development studies. Almost all branches of study are represented in the university's undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
