Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles
The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles are a baseball team based in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. They formed in 2004 with a game in the Nippon Pacific Professional Baseball League.
In their first season, the struggling Eagles had dropped to 20 games by mid-June. After the team's poor performance, Nashida took responsibility for himself and resigned as coach that month. In 2013, they achieved their first tournament championship and became the Japan Champions.
Their name is likened to that of the endangered eagle of prey native to the Tohoku region. They often play and compete at the home of Rakuten Seimei Park Miyagi. The football field has entertainment areas such as a Ferris wheel and a merry-go-round.
