Tüpras
Tüpraş is a Turkish corporation that operates four refineries with a combined capacity of 30 million tons of crude per year. The company's roots can be traced back to İPRAŞ, which was founded by the US Caltex Company (now part of Chevron). İPRAŞ and three other publicly owned refineries were taken over by the state under the Tüpraş umbrella in 1983.
As one of the largest manufacturing companies in Turkey, Tüpraş owns four oil refineries, three of which use imported crude. The 11 million tonnes per year Izmit refinery in northwestern Turkey and the 11 million tonnes per year Izmir refinery at Aliaga on Turkey's central Aegean coast process crude delivered by tanker from global markets, while the 5 million tonnes per year Kirikkale refinery in central Turkey processes crude delivered to Turkey's Mediterranean oil hub at Ceyhan and transited to the refinery via a bespoke pipeline. The fourth refinery, the 1.1 million tonnes/year Batman refinery, processes crude from a plethora of small oil fields in southeast Turkey, which is supplied to the refinery by an existing pipeline network as well as by road tanker.
Tüpraş also owns a majority position (79,98%) in the shipping business DTA and a 40% stake in the petrol retailer Opet since 2006.
