Universal Pictures, a subsidiary of NBC Universal, is the second oldest film studio in the world and is also considered one of the six largest. So far, the studio has had over 200 films in different genres, always creating movies with their own, unique qualities and always creating different films. Therefore, this studio is always a place that attracts a large number of fans of different ages. Universal was founded by Carl Laemmle, a German Jew who moved from Laupheim and settled in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He had originally intended to open a clothing store, but on a trip to Chicago in 1905, he was struck by the popularity of movie theaters. He gave up the clothing store to buy some movie theaters. In June 1911, Laemmle, along with Abe and Julius Stern, founded the Yankee film company. This company quickly grew and became the Independent Moving Pictures Company.
To quickly bring the studio's image to the public, Laemmle attracted many leading actors of the time, such as actress Florence Lawrence and actor King Baggot. This is considered the first studio to use stars for marketing. In late 1912, the company spent most of its filmmaking efforts in Hollywood. In 1915, Laemmle opened the world's largest film factory, Universal City Studio, with an area of 0.9 square kilometers. Universal quickly became the largest studio in Hollywood and held that position for 10 years. However, Universal's audience is mainly from small towns, on the other hand, their products are mostly expensive. In 1926, Universal opened a factory in Germany, with Joe Pasternak as director.
