University of Aveiro (“Universidade de Aveiro”)
The University of Aveiro is a public university in the Portuguese city of Aveiro that also offers polytechnic education. It was founded in 1973 and currently has over 12,500 students enrolled in 58 graduate, 40 master's, and 25 doctoral programs, which are organized into departments and independent sections with specialized faculties. It is a research-intensive institution with programs in fundamental and applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, telecommunications, robotics, bioinformatics, sea sciences, materials, design, business administration, and industrial engineering.
The main campus, as well as the neighboring Administration and Accounting Institute, are in Aveiro's city center. In gueda (Higher Education Technological and Management School of gueda) and Oliveira de Azeméis, there are external/regional campuses (Higher Education School of North Aveiro). Along with the universities of Porto and Minho, it acts as a hub for the inter-university Doctoral program. The European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education recognized its integrated Masters in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering as the first Portuguese IT-oriented European Accredited Engineering Masters (EUR-ACE).
