University of Central Florida
The Institution of Central Florida (UCF) is a public research university based in unincorporated Orange County, Florida, northeast of Orlando and south of Oviedo. In addition, UCF has nine smaller regional campuses spread around central Florida. It is a member of the Florida State University System. It now boasts the second-largest student body of any public institution in the United States, with 70,406 students as of the Fall 2021 semester.
UCF was founded in 1963 as Florida Technological University and first opened its doors in 1968. Florida Tech was renamed the University of Central Florida in 1978 as the school's academic emphasis extended beyond engineering and technology.
There are now thirteen colleges in the university, which provide 101 baccalaureate degrees, 88 master's programs, 31 doctorate programs, three specialty programs, and one professional program (Medicine).
Business management and administration, health professions and associated, psychology, education, engineering, biology, multi/interdisciplinary studies, communications, visual and performing arts, and social sciences are the ten most popular undergraduate fields at UCF.
