University of Innsbruck
The University of Innsbruck was founded on October 15, 1669, in Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian federal state of Tyrol.
It is the largest educational institution in the Austrian Bundesland of Tirol and the third largest in Austria, behind Vienna University and the University of Graz. Many branches, most notably the physics department, have made significant contributions. It also ranks third in the world for the number of Web of Science-listed papers in the field of mountain research. The business administration faculty is ranked among the top 15 business administration faculties in German-speaking nations in the Handelsblatt Ranking 2015.
The following 16 faculties were added to the new organizational structure (which took effect on October 1, 2004) to replace the previous six faculties.
