  1. University of Vienna is an Austrian public research university in Vienna. It is the oldest university in the German-speaking world, having been founded in 1365 by Duke Rudolph IV. The university has grown into one of Europe's largest and most recognized universities, notably in the Humanities, because of its long and rich history.


    It has been the academic home to many scholars of historical and academic significance, as well as 21 Nobel prize winners. Students can choose from 181 degree programs at the university, including 55 bachelor's degrees, 110 master's degrees, three diploma programs, and 13 doctoral degrees. The university awarded 7,745 first degrees (Bachelors and Diplomas) in the academic year 2013/14, 1,424 Master's degrees, and 568 Doctoral degrees. A number of Master's programs in English are available at the university.


    According to the THE and QS rankings, the University of Vienna has the highest ranking in Arts and Humanities, where it is ranked 35th and 54th in the world, respectively. Geography (ranked 28th globally in 2013), Linguistics and Philosophy (both 46th globally), and Law are all excellent topics (ranked 32nd in Europe and 73rd globally). It has a good academic reputation and a large number of international students, but it has a poor professor-to-student ratio and a low number of citations per faculty.

  3. Graz University of Technology is one of Styria's five universities. It is Austria's oldest science and technology research and educational center, having been founded in 1811 by Archduke John of Austria.


    It is currently a public university with seven faculties. It provides 19 bachelor's degrees and 34 master's degrees (of which 17 are in English) in a variety of technical and natural scientific fields. There are 14 English-speaking doctoral schools that provide doctoral training. More than 13,000 students attend the university, with about 2,000 graduating each year. Science study programs are available through NAWI Graz in collaboration with the University of Graz.

  4. The University of Innsbruck was founded on October 15, 1669, in Innsbruck, the capital of the Austrian federal state of Tyrol.

    It is the largest educational institution in the Austrian Bundesland of Tirol and the third largest in Austria, behind Vienna University and the University of Graz. Many branches, most notably the physics department, have made significant contributions.   5. The Johannes Kepler University Linz is an Austrian public higher education institution. It is located in Linz, Upper Austria's capital. In business, engineering, law, science, social sciences, and medical, it offers bachelor's, master's, certificate, and doctoral degrees.

    Today, 19,930 students attend the park campus in Linz's northeast, with one out of every nine students coming from outside the country. In 1998, the institution became the first in Austria to implement an electronic student ID.

  6. The University of Klagenfurt is a federal Austrian research university and the state of Carinthia's major research and higher education institution. In Klagenfurt, it has a campus.

    The university, which was established in 1970 and reopened in 1993, now has faculties of humanities and social sciences, management and economics, technical sciences, and interdisciplinary studies.


    It is listed in the ARWU, Klagenfurt is ranked 48th in the world in THE Young University Rankings 2021 and among the Best-Known Universities in Austria.   7. The University of Graz is the largest and oldest university in Styria, as well as the second-largest and second-oldest university in Austria. It is located in Graz, Austria.


    The Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Natural Sciences are the two main faculties of the institution. Faculty of Law, Faculty of Business, Economic, and Social Sciences, Faculty of Environmental, Regional, and Educational Sciences, and Faculty of Catholic Theology are the other faculties. In 2004, state legislation withdrew the Faculty of Medicine from the university, resulting in the establishment of the Medical University of Graz. The University of Salzburg, named after its founder, Prince-Archbishop Paris Lodron, is a public university located in Salzburg municipality, Salzburg state and among the Best-Known Universities in Austria. The University of Salzburg has no campus, instead occupying parts of the Salzburg Residenz building (Toskanatrakt) and Kapitelgasse, south of Salzburg Cathedral. The university library is situated between the Kollegienkirche and the Großes Festspielhaus, with the Große Aula, or ceremonial hall, next to it.

    The institution was founded in 1622, closed in 1810, and reopened in 1962.   9. The Medical University of Graz is an Austrian public medical university in Graz. Franz Joseph I created the Karl-Franzens-Universität in Graz's medical faculty in 1863. The previous faculty became a separate university in 2004. The Medical University of Graz became the first university in Austria to have a White Coat Ceremony for its third-year students on October 8, 2012.

  10. The Medical University of Innsbruck is an Austrian university located in Innsbruck. It was previously part of the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck's four historical faculties before becoming an autonomous institution in 2004. The medical legacy began even before the institution was founded, with the establishment of the first hospital in the nearby silver-mining city of Schwaz in 1307.


    The first university, founded in 1669 by Emperor Leopold I, comprised a medical school. The medical faculty was separated from the Leopold-Franzens University under the University Act of 2002, and the Medical University of Innsbruck was created as a distinct university.
