University of Medicine 1, Yangon
The University of Medicine 1, Yangon, originally the Institute of Medicine 1, is Myanmar's oldest medical school. It is located in Yangon. In medical science, the institution offers M.B., B.S. (equivalent to M.D.) and graduate (diploma, master's, and doctorate) degrees. The university is considered to be one of the most selective in the country, admitting only about 400 students each year based on their University Entrance Examination scores.
Lanmadaw (also known as St. John's), Pyay Road (also known as Leikkhon), and Thaton Road are the three campuses that make up the University of Medicine 1. (former BOC College of Engineering and Mining).
The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates has recognized University of Medicine 1, Yangon as one of the five best universities in Myanmar.
