University of Pennsylvania
In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the University of Pennsylvania is a private Ivy League research university. The university, founded in 1740 as the College of Philadelphia, is one of nine colonial colleges chartered prior to the United States Declaration of Independence.
To train educators, leaders, and health professionals, the school offers a variety of degrees, including Ph.D., Ed.D., and Master of Science, Master of Science in Education, and Master of Philosophy in Education programs. Graduate students can also benefit from the University of Pennsylvania's other highly ranked departments by earning a joint or dual degree from another Penn school. Penn GSE faculty and students assist in the management of schools in West Philadelphia as well as the training of local educators. For TFA instructors working in the Philadelphia School District, there is also a Teach for America Urban Teacher certificate program.
