The Volumetrics Diet ranks 9th on the list of the best fast weight-loss diets, developed by Dr. Barbara Rolls, a registered dietitian at Pennsylvania State University, is an eating plan intended to help you combine a healthy diet and lifestyle. Healthy eating is based on nutritious foods and regular exercise. This diet focuses on foods that are high in water and low in calories to keep you full for longer and reduce cravings. The main foods in this diet include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products and low-fat meats.


Foods of the Volumetric Diet are classified into four categories. Categories 1 and 2 include very low to low energy foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc.) that should be eaten regularly. Categories 3 and 4 include fatty meats, fish, refined carbohydrates and processed foods that should be limited to meet your health goals. Dr. Rolls believes that the key to healthy weight loss is eating low-calorie foods. The diet claims to help you lose a pound or two per week. As long as you stick to this diet, you can lose weight steadily. This diet suggests you have to be patient because it is difficult to stay full for long with low energy density foods or some people do not like to eat fruits and vegetables every day.
