Waldorf School of Luxembourg
The Waldorf School (WS) is a private international school founded in Luxembourg in 1983. It educates students aged 4 to 18, offering a multilingual approach with an adapted English curriculum and an IB Diploma taught in French.
WS offers a diverse language education. In pre-school, Luxembourgish is taught, followed by German in primary school. French and English are introduced early on and become the main languages in secondary school. It is one of four international schools in Luxembourg that provides the International Baccalaureate Diploma, taught in French.
Since 2004, the Waldorf School has offered a 2-year International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This program is in French and includes six subject groups and one core course. Students study 6 subject areas, three looking at a higher level and three at an intermediate level.
The Waldorf School distinguishes itself by combining cognitive and artistic education. Their approach values a child's natural curiosity in all areas, giving equal importance to physical education, handicrafts, art, and appreciation for the natural world, alongside mathematics and literacy.
The Waldorf education is shaped by elements such as free play, imagination, empathy, engagement, responsibility, sustainability, and well-being in their society. These elements are combined with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) personal goals, which include inquiry, resilience, morality, communication, thoughtfulness, cooperation, respect, and adaptability. These aspects are woven into each unit of study, providing opportunities for students to develop and experience them.
