We Tripantu
Chile not only has famous festivals with a vibrant atmosphere, and bustling celebrations but also attracts visitors because of its spirituality with famous media and cultural festivals. Among them is the famous traditional festival We Tripantu, or New Year Mapuche, which begins just before sunset.
On June 23 and ending at sunrise on June 24, the native Mapuche people wait for the "new sun" to return from the west. The New Year coincides with the winter solstice, as the Mapuche people believe that winter brings renewal of life. Rituals are performed to call upon the Mapuche ancestors and are guided by a community or religious head. When this famous festival We Tripantu took place, it attracted many tourists from all over the world to experience Chile's media culture as well as to experience the sacredness of Chile's land through famous festivals.
