Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a 2017 action-adventure first-person shooter video game published by Bethesda Softworks and developed by MachineGames. It was published on October 27, 2017, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and on June 29, 2018, for the Nintendo Switch. The game is set in an alternate reality in 1961, following the Nazi triumph in World War II, and is the eighth main installment in the Wolfenstein series and the sequel to 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order. The plot revolves around World War II soldier William "B.J." Blazkowicz and his efforts to combat the Nazi dictatorship in the United States.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus was met with favorable reviews. Characters, plot, shooting mechanics, and the overall appearance of the game received special attention. The game was nominated for many year-end awards, including the 35th Annual Golden Joystick Awards and The Game Awards 2017, where it won the title of "Best Action Game". Following the release of the game, MachineGames released Freedom Chronicles, a set of three downloadable content packs.
