Wuzhizhou Island

Wuzhizhou, called the "Maldives of China," is no exception to China's habit of naming locations after existent sites throughout the world. Wuzhizhou Island is off the south coast of Hainan Island in the Haitang District, northeast of Sanya.

In Haitang Bay, Wuzhizhou Island is a haven of tranquility and comfort. The recreation area covers a total of 138 hectares.

Wuzhizhou's sand is a bright golden color that is unexpectedly pleasant to the touch. Scuba diving and ecotourism are also popular in Wuzhizhou. On the island, there are about 2,700 plant species, including big trees and dense bushes. The water is crystal clear and blueish, with coral reefs and intriguing wildlife such as clams, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and tropical fish. Take the number 28 bus from Sanya to Wuzhizhou Ferry Pier, where a 15-minute boat journey to the island costs about 140 for a return ticket.
