ZTE

ZTE Corporation is a telecommunications-focused technology business with a small amount of state ownership in China. ZTE was established in 1985 and is traded on the Shenzhen and Hong Kong Stock Exchanges.

Wireless exchange, optical transmission, data telecommunications equipment, telecommunications software, and mobile phones make up the bulk of ZTE's operations. ZTE is an OEM, yet it sells goods mostly under its own brand.

Because of its connections to the Chinese government, which potentially allow for widespread surveillance, the corporation has come under fire in the United States, India, and Sweden. ZTE was penalized in 2017 for breaking economic restrictions by illegitimately transferring US technology to Iran and North Korea. U.S. firms (semiconductors) were prohibited from exporting to ZTE for seven years by the U.S.

Department of Commerce in April 2018, following the company's failure to adequately discipline the affected employees. After ZTE replaced its senior management, agreed to pay additional fines, and committed to set up an internal compliance unit for ten years, the ban was lifted in July 2018. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) classified ZTE as a national security threat in June 2020.

ZTE's market capitalization as of March 2023 was $22.48 billion. By market cap, ZTE is now the 746th most valuable company in the world. The most recent financial reports from ZTE show that the company's current revenue (TTM) is $18.57 billion. The corporation generated $17.71 billion in revenue in 2021, a rise from $14.79 billion in revenue in 2020.
