  3. Frontier is a Canadian historical drama television series developed by Rob and Peter Blackie that follows the North American fur trade in colonial Canada/Land Rupert's in the late 1700s or early 1800s. The series is co-produced by Discovery Canada and Netflix as the channel's first original scripted commission. The show debuted on November 6, 2016. Jason Momoa moved on to another tough drama called Frontier a few years after Khal Drogo died on Game of Thrones.

Frontier is set in the late 1800s in Canada and follows the North American fur trade and the Hudson's Bay Company's struggle to keep a corrupt, imposed monopoly on the sector. Momoa plays Declan Harp, an outlaw who is half-Irish and half-Cree — one of Canada's major First Nations — who opposes Hudson's Bay Company dominance. Harp is unafraid to go to any length, no matter how violent, to break the company's grip over Canada and the country's most important enterprise. Frontier is rough and exhilarating, and it's ideal for anyone who misses Drogo and his fiery personality.

  4. Peaky Blinders is a British period crime drama television series created by Steven Knight. Set in Birmingham, England, it follows the exploits of the Peaky Blinders crime gang in the direct aftermath of the First World War. The fictional gang is loosely based on a real urban youth gang of the same name who were active in the city from the 1890s to the 1910s.

Peaky Blinders is arguably one of Netflix's greatest original shows, starring a cast of excellent performers such as Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, and the late Helen McCrory, who unfortunately died of cancer earlier this year. The drama is set in Birmingham, England just after World War I, and focuses on the criminal operations of the Shelbys, an Irish-Romani mafia family led by Murphy's Thomas Shelby, who have ambitious aspirations to increase their dominance. Of course, there are many others competing for control of England, but the Shelbys never give up.

Peaky Blinders has featured many fantastic actors in supporting roles over the course of the series' five seasons, with the sixth and final season coming soon, including Sam Neill as the corrupt Chief Inspector Chester Campbell, Tom Hardy as Alfie Solomons, the leader of a Jewish gang in Camden Town, and Adrien Brody as Italian-American gangster Luca Changretta. Many of the people and events in the series are based on real-life individuals and events from the time period, and the series has received critical praise.
