Outlander
Outlander is a historical drama television series based on Diana Gabaldon's ongoing novel series of the same name. The program, created by Ronald D. Moore, aired on Starz on August 9, 2014. Caitrona Balfe plays Claire Randall, a married former Second World War military nurse in Scotland who is sent back in time to 1743 in 1945. There, she meets, falls in love with, and marries a handsome Highland warrior called Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a Tacksman of Gabaldon's fictitious Clan Fraser of Lovat, and gets involved in the Jacobite rebellion.
Throughout the seasons, Outlander explores various distinct historical periods, although the crux of the plot takes place in Scotland in the 1700s. The show follows Caitrona Balfe as Claire Randall, a former World War II medic, on a honeymoon journey with her husband, Frank Randall, until an encounter with standing stones at Craigh Dun transports Claire back to 1743. There, she meets a young Scottish Highlander called Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, and they quickly fall in love as Claire tries to navigate a time of history she knows may be perilous. Outlander has been running for five seasons and is a fantastic series, so if you haven't seen it yet, now is the time.
