Bridgerton is a Shonda Rhimes-produced American streaming television historical drama series developed by Chris Van Dusen. It is based on Julia Quinn's books, which are set during the season, when debutantes are presented at court, amid the competitive world of Regency era London's ton. This is Shonda Rhimes' first written Netflix series.

Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) is at the heart of Season 1 when she meets Simon Bassett, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), a very attractive bachelor who has no plans to marry anytime soon. Daphne and Simon strike an agreement to seem to be pursuing each other in order for Simon to be relieved of the enormous pressure to marry, while Daphne makes the other suitors envious and intrigued. Bridgerton's first season was widely appreciated by critics, particularly for its ethnically diverse ensemble, and a second season is on the way.
