Downton Abbey
Julian Fellowes developed and co-wrote Downton Abbey, a British historical drama television series set in the early twentieth century. The series premiered on ITV in the United Kingdom on September 26, 2010, and on PBS in the United States on January 9, 2011, as part of its Masterpiece Classic anthology.
Downton Abbey, another well-known historical drama, takes place in the 1910s and 1920s and focuses on the Crawley family of aristocrats. Downton Abbey, starring Maggie Smith as Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham, Hugh Bonneville as her son Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham, and Michelle Dockery as her granddaughter Lady Mary Crawley, contrasts the drama and social maneuverings of the upper class with the everyday duties and challenges that the entire Downton Abbey estate goes through while working for the Crawleys. The program has a large cast of excellent performers, including Dan Stevens, Lily James, and others. Downton Abbey has six seasons in all, as well as one feature and a second on the way.
