    Phoenix Library

Jashwant Narsidas Ponda, a 25-year-old bibliophile back then, founded the Phoenix Library on October 25, 1959. It was the climax of his life's labor, which started in Dahanu, Maharashtra. In 1958, Ponda quit his employment as a court reporter in Mumbai and moved to Pune to devote his whole commitment to the library. It was originally located in Sadashiv Peth. After its destruction in 2013, this library was relocated to Kumthekar Road, where it continues its operation.

Clippings are affixed to every volume in the Phoenix Library, enabling users to peruse relevant material while browsing the books. These clippings are generally of 3 kinds: clippings of the books and their authors, clippings of intriguing incidents, and clippings containing rules and instructions for the proper care and preservation of the books, including various figures and diagrams. The Phoenix Library is classified in the Limca Book of World records as "the only library featuring clippings inserted in books", and this title has been held for over twenty years.
