  1. The Coral Gables Art Cinema, which opened in October 2010, is said to be one of the best movie theaters in Miami, the most comfortable, and highest-grossing art house, presenting first-run and regional premieres of quality American independent and international features, both fiction and documentary, as well as classic films, special programs, and film festival events that reflect the region's multilingual and multicultural diversity. The Miami New Times weekly named the theater "Miami's Best Art-House Cinema" in 2011, 2018, 2020, and 2022.

The Coral Gables Cinematheque, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) film arts group, and Magna-Tech Electronic Company collaborated to create the Cinema project in 2006. The financing for the theater's construction was donated by the City and the Coral Gables Community Foundation through the Perrin Fund, which is handled by Mayor Don Slesnick. A variety of film industry businesses have made significant in-kind gifts of professional theater equipment and installations to help finish the facility. Many additional individuals, members, and companies, including Bacardi and Miami-Dade County, have contributed to the Cinema's realization. Steven Krams, a long-time film industry professional, is the founder.

This 141-seat cinema is open seven days a week to present the best American and international indie films to Miami. The Gables Art Cinema caters to moviegoers by exhibiting black and white adaptations of popular films such as Mad Max: Fury Road and Dunkirk in 70mm. They also broadcast beloved movie classics for spectators to enjoy on the big screen, as well as organized special programming and film festival events.

  2. Since 2005, MDC's Tower Theater Miami has been South Florida's highest-grossing art-house cinema. Their objective is to link art to audiences and to instill a love of film in future generations. The Miami Film Festival is housed at The Theater all year. Free instructional screenings for students and discounted rental prices for non-profits to promote the film without commercial constraints are examples of their charitable efforts. The Tower Theater at MDC Miami is one of the city's most historic cultural landmarks. It was the finest state-of-the-art theater in the South when it debuted in December 1926.

Many Cuban refugees migrated to Miami in the early 1960s. The neighborhood around S.W. Eighth Street, known as "Calle Ocho," became a location of new beginnings. Films at Tower Theater Miami served as an introduction to American culture as well as sheer fun for many Cuban families. Soon after, the theater began showing English-language films with Spanish subtitles, and then Spanish-language films. Tower Theater, however, was closed to the public in 1984 after over sixty years of existence.

The City of Miami granted Miami Dade College permission to restore the theater in 2002. MDC's Tower Theater Miami was named "one of the ten great places to see a movie in splendor" by USA Today in the newspaper's round-up of the best old-fashioned movie palaces in America in 2011, and the theater came under the programming and operational direction of MDC's Miami Film Festival the same year. Tower Theater Miami thrives today as a social gathering place for cultural connections in Little Havana, where the community can enjoy alternative and culturally specific exhibitions, performances, and independent and international films, specializing in both Spanish-language films and English-language films with Spanish subtitles.

The Colony Theatre, proudly managed by Spectra Venue Management, has recently emerged from a three-year, $6.5 million renovation/restoration to regain its status as the region's top mid-sized performance space. The entrance, façade, and lobby have been restored to their full Art Deco splendor, while the inside has a larger stage, more lighting, and cutting-edge theatrical rigging and sound equipment. • The Olympia Theater is a theater located in Miami, Florida. Designed by John Eberson in his famed atmospheric style, the theater opened in 1926. Throughout its history, the venue has served as a movie theater, concert venue, and performing arts center. In 1984, it received historical designation by the NRHP. The Olympia Theater and its sister venue, the Tampa Theatre, are the only remaining atmospheric theaters in Florida.

The Olympia Theater at Gusman Center for the Performing Arts is located on the southwest corner of Downtown Miami’s busiest intersection at Flagler Street and 2nd Avenue—the original site of the “Airdome Theatre.” It was built in 1925 by Paramount Enterprises at a cost of $1.5 million.

John Eberson was selected by Paramount as the architect. Eberson departed from the usual theater-style building and created the first of many “atmospheric” theaters with turrets and towers in the Spanish style. It was the most beautiful and elaborately equipped theater of its time and is believed to be the first air-conditioned theater in the South. It has maintained its reputation as an acoustically perfect theater and remains the love of many Miamians.
