Any well-sampled collection of Moog noises could have done the same thing, though.

Sounds may be triggered through MIDI (surprise, Animoog responds to polyphonic aftertouch modulation) via the built-in touch-plate controller (which looks curiously Buchla-like). The position of the player's finger on the vertical plane may be utilized to alter the timbre, just like some other iPad instruments we've seen.
