  1. One Dollar Beach, located on the outskirts of Dili, is one of the most tranquil yet cheerful spots. The beach got its name from the one-dollar taxi ride from Dili to the beach in 2002. The One Dollar Beach is a stunning landscape of verdant palm trees, velvety white sands, and aquamarine sea water that is secluded from all the urban bustle. The beach strip, which has a natural beauty, now has sheds and towers that are ideal for a weekend picnic. The ocean water near the beach is popular for snorkeling and diving and is frequented by both locals and tourists.

It is a beautiful beach with turquoise blue, crystal clear water, surrounded by rocks, almost deserted, with no awning or chair, so bring your own, as well as something to eat.

  2. The Cristo Rei (Christ the King) statue is similar to the much larger and far more well-known Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue that towers over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. (A Cristo Rei can also be found in Lisbon, Portugal.) In many ways, Dili and the landscape of East Timor are similar to Rio. Perhaps it was typical of the Portuguese to choose locations for future cities that already had substantial natural fortifications.

The 500-ish step climb to the Jesus statue is lined with a series of shrine-like grottoes that tell the story of Christ's life, death, and resurrection, including such significant moments as "Jesus falls first time," "Jesus falls second time," and my personal favorite, "Jesus falls third time."

Cristo Rei Beach is situated in Dili. This beach is directly in front of the great statue of Christ the King, a popular tourist attraction; if you visit this beach, you must not miss the opportunity to climb to the statue; there are many steps, 500 to be exact, but it is well worth it. From above, you can see the beach's majesty, its crystal clear water, and its sky blue reflection.

  3. The municipality of Liquica, located on the country's northern coast, offers a treasure trove of attractions both on land and under water. If you are staying in Dili, we recommend taking the full-day Maubara and Liquica Tour to get the most out of your visit to Liquica. This area, like the rest of Timor Leste's waters, is part of the Coral Triangle, an enormously diverse marine environment filled with coral reefs, various fish species, and other forms of marine life. Divers and snorkelers can explore the magnificent underwater gardens off the coast of Liquica. On dry land, you can see the ruins of the Aipelo, a Portuguese colonial prison built in the 19th century. A Dutch fort from the 17th century can also be found in the town of Maubara. After a day of adventure in and out of the water, you can unwind at your Timor Leste beach hotel. There are several excellent options, including the clean and modern Caimeo Beach Resort.

Liquica is a lovely pebble beach with crystal clear water and coconut palms. Swimming is possible all year, and the weather is always pleasant. Black Rock Restaurant will serve you a delectable blend of international and regional cuisine, accompanied by a cold beer, wine, or fresh juice. The municipality of Liquica, located west of Dili, has a beautiful coastline with rocky headlands, coves, and beaches. These are ideal for swimming, and the coral reefs offer excellent diving opportunities.

  4. Com is home to Jaco Island Beach. Is a deserted island. It is part of the Nino Konis Santana National Park. The average annual temperature is around 27 degrees Celsius (81 degrees Fahrenheit). There are populations of round-necked turtledoves, black turtledoves, and pinkheaded imperial pigeons on the island, among others.

Jaco Island is only 8 square kilometers (3 square miles) in size, but it packs a powerful punch. It's been dubbed "heaven on Earth," and it's easy to see why. It's a deserted islet with dazzling white beaches, a dense tropical forest, and a variety of wildlife. It is also a part of the massive Nino Konis Santana National Park. Overnight stays are not permitted on Jaco Island, which is considered sacred by the locals. However, you can spend many hours in the sun here. The only sounds are the waves lapping on the shore and the occasional bird song.

Tasi Tolu Beach is located in Tasi Tolu, on Timor-North Leste's Coast. This peaceful sandy beach provides lovely views and a great stretch for walking and relaxing. The clear water is home to a variety of beautiful sea creatures, ranging from crabs and fish to seahorses and colorful squids, making this an ideal diving and snorkeling location. 6. Maubara Beach is located in Maubara, on Timor-North Leste's Coast. With its dark sand and scenic views, this quiet beach is an excellent place to unwind after a long day. The clear water is teeming with marine life, making for an unforgettable snorkeling experience. You can also explore the Maubara Fort and all of its historical sites. There is a mall nearby, but there are no places to eat or stay; bring everything you may require. Because it is not a popular tourist destination, it is never crowded or crowded.

This beach, on the other hand, is a nature reserve completely surrounded by a fence, with no way to get close to the shore in hopes of seeing pelicans or crocodiles. Maubara town is little more than the fort, a few shops, and the church, but the fort has been developed as a tourist destination, and Maubara is now on every tour guide's map.

  7. Suailoro Beach is located on Timor-south Leste's coast in Suai Loro. This vast and unspoiled dark sandy beach offers breathtaking views against a backdrop of verdant forests. The warm weather provides the ideal setting for sunbathing and relaxing. A few restaurants are nearby. The beach is never crowded, and the atmosphere is always serene and peaceful.

Suai, 30 kilometers into East Timor, is the first city you'll reach if you use the southern border crossing with West Timor. You can visit the ruins of a small Portuguese fort and eat fresh fish in one of the many restaurant huts along the beach. You'll see a few fishermen bringing in their catch for the day, and you can watch locals fishing in the mangroves as the tide goes out.

Because there aren't many tourists here, you'll most likely be invited to sit down, talk and take a few photos. If you have some free time, go over to the SOLS and help students practice their English.

  8. The Dili Harbor Lighthouse (Portuguese: Farol do Porto de Dli) is a lighthouse on the west side of Dili, the capital city of East Timor, on the shore of the Bay of Dili. It aids in the navigation into and out of Dili's port.

Farol Beach is located on Timor-north Leste's coast in Dili. This picturesque stretch of soft sand is ideal for walking and provides stunning views and photo opportunities. The name is derived from the small white-and-green lighthouse (farol) that stands on the beach and adds to the beautiful scenery. In the surrounding area, there is a restaurant and a cafe. The majority of visitors arrive in the evening to watch the sunset from the beach; it can get crowded around this time.
