101 Collins Street
101 Collins Street is a 260 m (850 ft) skyscraper located on Collins Street in Melbourne CBD, Victoria, Australia. The 57-story building designed by Denton Corker Marshall was completed in March 1991. With a change of developers towards the end of the project, the lobby area was designed by Johnson Burgey.
The Tower is currently the 7th tallest building in Australia when measured to the highest point of construction, the 60 m (200 ft) spire.
The tower has 83,000 square meters (890,000 square feet) of rental space. The floor-to-ceiling height is 2.77 m (9 ft 1 in), which is unusually high for a skyscraper. A 30 m (98 ft) lift can reach speeds of 7 m/s (23 ft/s). There are a total of 414 underground parking lots. The building has double-glazed windows with surface-coated tempered glass to improve thermal efficiency. The CRA building was demolished for its construction.
The owners of 101 Collins are pursuing a long-term policy of purchasing surrounding properties to protect the south view, especially as a result of the unexpected opening of a trendy restaurant and bar in an old building on Flinders Lane.
101 Collins Street is named after the Yarra Tram Stop, serving lines 11, 12, 48 and 109.
