Australia 108
Australia 108, formerly 70 Southbank Boulevar, is a residential skyscraper in the Southbank area of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Constructed in November 2019, the building surpassed the Eureka Tower to become the tallest building in Australia in terms of roof height and surpassed the Q1 Tower to become the second-tallest building in Australia. The World-Class Land development project consists of a 316.7 m (1,039 ft) residential building with 1,105 apartments on 100 floors. Construction of the renovated Fender Katsalidis Architects for the Brookfield Multiplex began in 2015 and completed in 2020.
Prior to its present form, Australia 108 was planned to first construct a 72-story residential building, 226 m (741 ft) high. In 2012, the plan was revised and resubmitted in favor of a 388 m (1,273 ft) 108-story project. The proposal was approved by the state in March 2013. However, it was put on hold four months after it struggled to meet conditions imposed by government agencies, including VicRoads and the Civil Aviation Safety Administration.
