A Farewell to Arms
A Farewell to Arms is a novel written by Ernest Hemingway and set during World War I's Italian campaign. It is a first-person narrative of an American, Frederic Henry, serving as a lieutenant in the Italian Army's medical corps. It was originally published in 1929. The title is based on a poem by George Peele, a 16th-century English playwright.
This wonderful rendition of Ernest Hemingway's famous story of love amid the horror of World War I is presented to the screen. This film, which tells the story of an American ambulance driver (Cooper) who falls in love with an English nurse (Hayes), avoids much of Hemingway's cynicism in its epic romance. Despite the fact that fanatical fans may not like it, "A Farewell to Arms" is one of the greatest adaptations of the author's writings.
