African Wild Dogs

African wild dogs are one of the predators of zebras that eat zebras, according to the San Diego Zoo. Usually hunting in packs, these animals have a huge edge over their prey. African wild dogs are swift and nimble, and they have a top speed of 44 mph (70 kilometers per hour). Zebras find it extremely challenging to flee because of this.

When hunting, an African wild dog pack will attempt to herd the zebra herd into a small area first. The pack will pick out one zebra when the zebras have been contained and chase it down. The remaining members of the pack will then surround the zebra and keep biting it until it passes away. Zebras are the primary prey of African wild dogs, though they will consume other animals as well, such as antelope.

A single African wild dog has the capacity to eat up to two pounds (one kilogram) of meat at once. When compared to other predators like lions, this is a considerable amount of food. The average hunting schedule for African wild dogs is once every three days, though they will hunt more frequently if they can find a lot of prey.
