All in the Family
From 1971 until 1979, All in the Family was an American sitcom television series that aired on the CBS television network for nine seasons. Following that, it was followed by the spin-off series Archie Bunker's Place, which started up where All in the Family left off and ran for four more seasons until 1983.
The show follows the life of a middle-class guy and his family. Racism, antisemitism, adultery, homosexuality, women's liberation, rape, religion, miscarriages, abortion, breast cancer, the Vietnam War, menopause, and impotence were all shown in ways that were previously improper for a US network television comedy. The series became one of television's most important comedic shows by addressing these contentious themes, infusing the sitcom style with more dramatic moments and genuine, relevant tensions.
