I Love Lucy
I Love Lucy was an American television comedy that ran on CBS from October 15, 1951, to May 6, 1957, covering six seasons and 180 half-hour episodes. Lucille Ball, her husband, Desi Arnaz, as well as Vivian Vance and William Frawley, starred in the show. Lucy Ricardo (Ball) was a young, middle-class housewife in New York City who frequently planned plans with her best friends, Ethel and Fred Mertz (Vance and Frawley), to appear alongside her bandleader husband, Ricky Ricardo (Arnaz), at his nightclub.
In four of its six seasons, I Love Lucy was the most viewed show in the United States, and it was the first to complete its run at the top of the Nielsen ratings. The show's episodes have been syndicated in dozens of languages throughout the world since 2011, and it continues to be successful with a 40 million-strong American viewership each year.
