American International School of Johannesburg
The American International School of Johannesburg (AISJ) is a school system based in the United States with two campuses in South Africa: one in Johannesburg and the other in Pretoria. It was founded in 1982. In August 2002, the Pretoria campus, which covers grades pre-kindergarten through eight, opened. The original Pretoria facility was located near the US Embassy. The institution bought the current Pretoria location in 2010.
The American International School of Johannesburg educates children from over 100 different countries and is well-versed in meeting the unique demands of ex-pat families. They value and welcome diversity. They do not have an entrance exam, but students from non-English-speaking families who are applying for grades 9–12 are required to take an English proficiency test. In addition, the stringent South African visa process is something to bear in mind during the migration process; all students at AISJ must have a valid study visa or a DIRCO visa.
