International School of Kenya
The International School of Kenya (ISK) is a private, non-profit PreK–12 school founded in 1976 by the US and Canadian governments working together. ISK, which is situated on 40 acres of a former coffee plantation, offers both expatriate and Kenyan students a difficult North American curriculum as well as the rigorous International Baccalaureate Diploma program.
As a result of ISK's North American-style curriculum combined with its global orientation, Kenya has become a magnet for global business investment and a sought-after posting for people trying to help the development of East Africa. Since 1967, the school's values have been built and expanded through a large and concentrated service-learning program that serves their local and national communities, as well as a scholarship program for Kenyan students.
Because of the high-quality education they receive at ISK, expatriate families regard Kenya as a good employment option. ISK is also the school of choice for Kenyan families looking for their children to receive an international, culturally diverse education. ISK is home to over 870 students from over 60 nations. Graduates obtain an ISK North American-certified certification, with about 70% receiving the IB Diploma, which allows them to enter some of the world's most prominent and competitive institutions and colleges.
