Amy Poehler
Amy Poehler is an actor, comedian, writer, producer, and director from the United States. She co-founded the improv comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade after studying improvisational theatre at Chicago's Second City and ImprovOlympic in the early 1990s. The group relocated to New York City in 1996, and in 1998, their act was turned into a half-hour sketch comedy series on Comedy Central. Poehler co-founded the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre with other members of the comedy troupe.
She joined the cast of NBC's sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live in 2001. She joined Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update as a co-anchor in 2004 and left in 2008 to play Leslie Knope in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. She's also done voice work for Shrek 3, Horton Hears a Who!, Free Birds, Inside Out, and the animated series The Mighty B!, which she also created. Welcome to Sweden, Broad City, Difficult People, Duncanville, Three Busy Debras, and Russian Doll all have Poehler as an executive producer. She played Eleanor in the live-action/CGI Alvin and the Chipmunks film franchise until 2015, when Kaley Cuoco took over.
Poehler was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December 2015 for her contributions to television. In 2014, she received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Musical or Comedy Series, and in 2012, she received a Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. For co-hosting Saturday Night Live, she and Tina Fey both won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2016.
