Phyllis Diller
Phyllis Agatha Diller was a stand-up comedian, actor, novelist, singer, and visual artist most known for her unique stage presence, self-deprecating humor, crazy hair and costumes, and cackling laugh.
At the Purple Onion nightclub in San Francisco, Phyllis performed for the first time. In the history of comedy, she is the first female stand-up comedian. From 1966 through 1968, she had a successful television career thanks to her comic appearances on 'Boy, Did I Get a Wrong Number!,' 'Eight on the Lam,' and 'The Private Navy of Sgt. O'Farrell.'
Diller gained her own show, 'The Phyllis Diller Show,' which afforded her the freedom to wear fright wigs and outlandish clothes. Her 'Fang' and cracking voice made her famous (Fang was the name of her fictional husband she used while doing stand-up comedy). She then voiced the character of 'Monster Mate' in the film 'Mad Monster Party,' as well as the character of 'Queen' in 'A Bug's Life.' With her achievements, she always has a place in the list of the best female comedians of all time.
