Andros Island

Andros Island is popularly recognized as the "bonefish capital of the world," and it is also the largest of the Bahamas' islands. It is 104 miles long and 40 miles broad (at the widest point) with a total area of 2,300 square miles. The island is an archipelago made up of three main islands, five national parks, dense mangrove estuaries, and hundreds of islets.

It's known as The Bahamas' largest unknown island, making it a favourite destination for adventurers wishing to escape away from the Caribbean's busier islands. In the Bahamas, the island is supposed to be the location of the Lost City of Atlantis. There are large wetland zones that are excellent for bone-fishing, so it's a great area to try this activity. While on Andros Island, you can spend some time determining whether or not the legend of the Lost City of Atlantis is true!

Andros Barrier Reef, Tongue of the Ocean, Blue Holes National Park, Andros Lighthouse, Henry Morgan's Cave, Mariners Well, and Native Colony Ruins are the main attractions on the island. The winter dry season, from November to May, is a good time to visit Andros Island, with temperatures averaging a pleasant 24°C (75°F) and reasonably consistent and cooling easterly trade winds.
