New Providence Island
New Providence is one of The Bahamas' best islands, and it's usually the first stop for most tourists to the archipelago. New Providence is situated between Eleuthera and Andros Islands to the east and west, respectively. The island is 34 kilometres ( 21 miles) long and 11 kilometres (21 miles) wide, covering an area of 79.92 square miles. It is a mostly flat territory with a few small lakes, and it is home to an estimated 274,400 people.
New Providence is the location of Nassau, the capital of The Bahamas. The best time to visit is during the high season, which runs from the middle of December to the end of April, even if the beaches are more crowded at this time.
