Cat Island
Cat Island is the sixth-largest island in the Bahamas, as well as one of the most beautiful islands in the Bahamas. It has a fish hook shape, is 48 miles long, and is 2/3 to 4 miles wide. It is around 325 miles southeast of Miami and 130 miles southeast of Nassau. It's also close to the Tropic of Cancer, located between Long Island and Eleuthera. Cat Island has one of the most comfortable climates in the Bahamas, with winter temperatures in the high 60s and summer temperatures in the 80s.
Cat Island is one of the few places in the Bahamas that hasn't been overrun by tourists. While many visitors come to relax and unwind, there is still plenty to see and do on this 150-square-mile island. Hikers can ascend a stone staircase to Mount Alvernia's peak, which rises 206 feet above sea level. Cat Island is great for couples looking for a private getaway, as well as groups looking to immerse themselves in the island's infinite experiences. Diving off the southside of Cat Island is an experience not to be missed while exploring this practically pristine island full of wonders. You won't find luxurious hotels, resorts, or villas here; instead, you'll have to make do with bed and breakfast accommodations.
Cat Island's main attractions are the Boiling Hole, Griffin Bat Cave, Rollezz Beach, New Bight Beach, The Hermitage on Mt. Alvernia, Old Bight Beach, and the Deveaux Plantation Ruins. Cat Island is a year-round vacation spot. You can visit Cat Island throughout the winter, from November to May, when temperatures average a pleasant 24°C (75°F) with reasonably consistent and cooling easterly trade winds.
