Armenian State Pedagogical University
The Khachatur Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University (Armenian State Pedagogical University, ASPU) is a state university and institution of higher education located in Yerevan, Armenia's capital. The institution, founded in 1922, specializes in pedagogy and the formation of teaching staff. The institution is named for the 19th-century Armenian writer Khachatur Abovian, and its current rector is professor Ruben Mirzakhanyan.
As of 2017, the Armenian State Pedagogical University is home to 10 faculties:
- Faculty of Philology,
- Faculty of History and Law,
- Faculty of Preschool Education,
- Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography,
- Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology,
- Faculty of Foreign Languages,
- Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics,
- Faculty of Art Education,
- Faculty of Special Education,
- Faculty of Culture.
The International Co-operation Unit coordinates the university's strategic objectives; collaborates with international higher education institutions and university structure divisions; creates and oversees cooperation programs.
The institution collaborates with the British Council, the TEMPUS national agency, and Rossotrudnichestvo (Russia), as well as with European Commission-funded and other donor-funded programs.
